Maharshi Mehi Paramhans was born 28th April, 1885 (Vaishakh Shukla Paksha Chaturdashî according to Indian calendar) in Khokshi Shyâm village in Saharsa, Bihar, India. Mr. Babujan Lâl Dâs and Mrs. Jariakwati Devi were his parents. He had a spiritual bent of mind from childhood. He finally bade adieu to household life on July 3, 1904 as he got emotional answering to a philosophical question in English during Class X examination and left the hall to take to the life of recluse. His desperate search for Guru ended when he found out Bâbâ Devî Sahab in 1909 who initiated him. Impressed with his progress and zeal in meditation, Bâbâ Devî Sahab initiated him into Sound meditation just in three years' time in 1912. Maharshi Mehî took Santmat to much greater heights spreading it to millions of common, poor and illiterate people in North India. So great was his aura that while he never went out of India and Nepal, devotees from foreign countries like Norway, Sweden, Russia, Japan, UK, USA etc got initiated by him. He acted as a bridge between scriptures and saintly literature syncretising their essential teachings.
